Disease

Disease

Secular Definition:  From Wikipedia, Disease is often used more broadly to refer to any condition that causes pain, dysfunction, distress, social problems, and/or death to the person afflicted, or similar problems for those in contact with the person. In this broader sense, it sometimes includes injuries, disabilities, disorders, syndromes, infections, isolated symptoms, deviant behaviors, and atypical variations of structure and function, while in other contexts and for other purposes these may be considered distinguishable categories.

Webster’s Dictionary says this: A condition of the living animal or plant body or of one of its parts that impairs normal functioning and is typically manifested by distinguishing signs and symptoms

While medical science often treats the symptoms of many diseases through medications, our objective is to focus on the spiritual roots of the disease.  This focuses therefore on not only removing the disease at it’s spiritual roots, but also not allowing it to ever return.  Much of Jesus’ ministry was on ministering to the sick.

Many times the healing occurred after the laying on of hands or by others touching Jesus:
"…how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38).
"…and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well” (Matthew 14:36).

Other times, however, the healing occurred as a result of deliverance.  The spirit was specifically rebuked and loosed and set free from the enemy.

As in the case of Peter’s mother-in-law:
“Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon's house. But Simon's wife's mother was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her.  So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them” (Luke 4:38-39).
And when Jesus loosed the woman from the infirmity:
“Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.  And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.  But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, ‘Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.’  And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God” (Luke 13:10-13).

In the Word of God:

“Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows” (Isaiah 53:4 NIV).

“And by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5 NKJV)

In Heaven we know that there is no sickness or disease.  And Jesus teaches us to pray in The Lord’s Prayer that God’s Kingdom come to Earth as it is in heaven (Mt 6:10).  We know that it is God’s will that people be healed and rid of disease.  It is a foundation of our ministry that God’s will is to heal the sick through others willing to pray for the sick (Mt 10:8).

Because of this biblical foundation, we do pray for the sick to be healed, and we see them healed regularly.  Furthermore, we often see people healed of sickness and disease through deliverance as a result of being set free from the infirmities afflicting them.

Infirmity is the ruling spirit or also known as the “stronghold.”  It controls and dictates other spirits such as inherited curses of infirmity, arthritis, asthma-hay fever-allergies, fever, cancer, death, every disease & pain that operate in peoples’ lives.
