Fear
Fear
Secular Definition: An aversion to a person, place, activity event, or object that causes emotional distress and often avoidance behavior.
Webster’s Dictionary says this: An unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger.
While the bible does tell us to fear the Lord (Dt 6:13; Dt 10:20; Ps 34:9; Pr 24:21), this is a reverent fear of the Almighty. To fear anything else is not of God. We are to fear no evil, for we know our God is with us at all times (Ps 23:4). Many people are gripped and crippled by fear, causing significant damage to their relationships, ability to cope and deal with situations, and overall ability to live and walk in the freedom of Jesus Christ.
In the Word of God:
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Fear is the ruling spirit or also known as the “stronghold.” It controls and dictates other spirits such as insecurity, inadequacy, inferiority complex, timidity, worry, sensitivity, Fear of authority, terror, torment / horror, nightmares, panic attacks, phobias, anxiety, nervousness, abandonment and procrastination.
